Varsity Coaches


Steve Gullotti begins his 27th year as head coach at El Dorado. The 1976 UC Santa Barbara graduate began his career as the JV coach at Valencia High School before moving over to El Dorado in 1980. During his tenure his teams have won 7 league championships, 2 CIF championships and have compiled an overall record of 485-223. Among the many fine players to have come up through El Dorado during Steve's years are former major league players Phil Nevin, Bret Boone, Matt Luke, Kevin Blankenship and Chris Cron and current Royal's pitcher, Brett Tomko. In addition, more than 65 former players have gone on to play college or professional baseball. During his spare time he enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, playing racquetball and riding his Harley. Steve lives in Yorba Linda with his wife of 24 years, Brianne, and his two daughters, Janelle, 19 and Lauren 12.



Dave Moore is in his 17th season as an assistant coach for El Dorado, and his 10th season as varsity assistant coach. He will again coach the hitters and outfielders, as well as handle third base coaching duties. "Moorsey" has been an assistant coach on two CIF Championship teams ('99 and '01), as well as having been an All-County outfielder on Coach Gullotti's 1st championship team in 1989.  After being prepped by Coach Gullotti from 1986-1989, Dave went on to play at Fullerton College and San Fransisco State before trading in his cleats for a pair of coaching shoes. Moore, who works with campus security as well as baseball camps and private lessons, finished his bachelors at Cal State Fullerton and is currently enrolled at National University for his teaching credential. Dave and his fiancee, Lori, live in Placentia with their 16 month old son Jack and newborn daughter Jenna.


Matt Stine "Lager" begins his 31st year coaching baseball by returning for his 9th season as Varsity Assistant Coach at El Dorado under Coach Steve Gullotti. He spent the other 21 years coaching at Anahiem High School, Fullerton College (2 tours of duty) and Chapman University where his responsibilities varied from coaching the hitters, outfielders and infielders, as well as Associate Head Coach. Matt was an assistant coach with the 1999 CIF Championship team at El Dorado and when asked to be the interim Head Coach in 2001 that team lead him to the 2001 CIF Championship. This year his responsibilites will be focused on assisting in working with the hitters and infielders. Matt is the Learning Center Specialist and has been teaching at El Dorado High School for 11 years. He received his Bachelor's degree in Movement and Exercise Science from Chapman University and his Masters of Science degree in Education from California State UniversityFullerton. Matt resides in Placentia with his wife of 14 years Gina, daughter Kyncee, 9 and son Rawleigh 5.


Matt Lucas begins his 4th season coaching with this being his 1st year coaching at El Dorado High School. Matt previously played under Coach Gullotti and Coach Moore from 1994 to 1996. After graduating he went on to play at Cal State LA until 2000 under Coach John Herbold. His playing career then led him to play for the Houston Astros organization for four years from 2000 to 2003. In 2005 he made a career change from playing to coaching and became the assistant varsity coach for Laguna Beach High School. He then went on to become the Walnut High School pitching coach from 2006 to 2007. We are proud to have Matt returning to us as the El Dorado pitching coach. Additionally, Matt teaches US and World History here at El Dorado High School. Matt and his wife Julie reside in Orange with their three month old daughter Abbey.
